Conquering Procrastination

Since redesigning my site, I’ve been thinking about getting back to blogging more regularly and becoming more active on social media. It’s been one of those things I mean to do. Soon.

Currently, I have very little time to work on my art. But on those rare days when I am able to work on my art, I procrastinate. I spend a lot of time beating myself up over my lack of motivation. “If only” I tell myself. If only I had more quality time. If only I didn’t always feel so tired. If only I didn’t work alone.

I’m making some big changes to my life to help me tackle some of these issues. I hope they help. But I’m still sitting here in the middle of a completely free Sunday afternoon and I’m doing nothing.

Moments ago, I posted a new image to Instagram. It’s a picture of my messy studio and the explanation that creating the mess, and subsequently, cleaning the mess, is part of my process. Cleaning has a way of getting me to pick up one of my projects. But as I posted the image, I had a lightbulb moment. I realized the connection I make with people through social media is a very important part of that process too. Sharing this art journey makes me feel like I’m not working alone.

Thus begins my renewed commitment to sharing more.
